So resedagboken hasn't worked so well in India but since I've been stationary for two weeks it is a quick update. We spent two weeks running around the hospital Medical College Trivandrum. I've seen and learnt more than I ever would have in a Swedish hospital in the same amount of time. This is a
After around 24 hours flight with 3 stops we finally arrived in Thiruvananthapuram (or as foreigners have to call it for obvious reasons, Trivandrum) It is everything and nothing of what I expected. The roads are more holes than tarmak and with people driving on the left side of the road every car
So it's been awhile and many things have happened since I last wrote. My mother and aunt were here and visited me which was fun and we managed to shop till we practically dropped. On the following weekend some friends and I decided to hike up to The Great WAll for a night of camping which was alot
So I'm back in Beijing and it feels very, very nice. It's been a wonderful trip, but it's good to be home. Sanya is quite the nice beach area and despite the cloudy weather I managed to get a little tanned. It rained for a few days but Amanda and I didn't really let that bother us since it wasn't
So, after two weeks of being back in Beijing and seeing my sister it's time to use some more time to explore other parts of China. Tomorrow morning I'm heading for Hainan, the most southern island of China and there I'm meeting a friend who left on Monday. Together we fly to Chengdu in Sichuan for
So the rest of Yangshuo was fun as well. I biked a little more, went climbing, saw a wonderful light show and met some nice people along the way. Thursday night I took a sleeper bus to Macao. Now thats an experience... Only Chinese can fit 40 mini beds onto one normal sized bus and then forget to
After another calm and lovely day in Lijiang I bussed down to Kunming for 9 hours which actually wasn't bad at all due to the luxuriously big seats on the bus and the extremely beautiful scenery throughout the entire trip. I arrived to Kunming in the evening and was to tired to really do anything
What a hike! I'm now to be called the extreme hiker! It was wonderfully beautiful with scenery to blow ones mind away. One day of up, up, up , up..... and then one day of straight, comfortable walking. Now I'm tired and going to bed after having had a shower and being fed by 'mama' back in lijiang.
I left yesterday early, early morning and except for a pretty long delay in kunming where i had a transfer everything went very smoothly. I arrived in Lijiang and there was a bus waiting to go to the center and from there I figured I would find my way to this highly recommended hostel called mamas
It's finally time! As much fun as school and classes everyday at 8 o'clock in the morning and 30 characters a day... are I've decided to dust off my traveling shoes and take a look at what exists outside of the bubble Beijing. Where I would love to believe that apartment blocks and restaurants is
Finally, another adventure! We are off to Kerala to play doctors at the university hospital of Trivandrum as a part of the course Global Health that I am studying at KI the moment. For two weeks 15 enthusiastic medical students from Stockholm will infiltrate the hospital of unsuspecting Keralite patients. With a little luck, the doctors know that we are coming. After that, a few friends and I pack our bags to head north to eventually end up in Delhi in time to catch our plane home.
So I'm going back. Turns out I was unlucky in the lottery for the universities in Sweden again, but lucky in that I can go back and continue studying Chinese in Beijing. This time around I'll be there for 6 months and I will hopefully also be doing some travelling to see more of China and not just the big cities.
3 months in Beijing to hopefully pick up something similar to Chinese and to have a wonderful experience.
